1. 1 Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Type 'winver' and press Enter to check your Windows version. This helps you know if your system is up to date, as outdated Windows can cause driver conflicts.
2. 2 Open Device Manager by pressing Windows key + X and selecting 'Device Manager' from the menu. Expand 'Display adapters', right-click your NVIDIA GPU, and select 'Uninstall device'. Check the box that says 'Delete the driver software for this device' and click Uninstall. This removes the current driver completely, eliminating any corrupted files.
3. 3 Restart your PC. Windows will automatically install a basic display driver, but we'll replace it with the latest NVIDIA driver next.
4. 4 Go to NVIDIA's official driver download page (nvidia.com/drivers). Use the dropdowns to select your GPU model and Windows 11, then download the latest Game Ready or Studio driver. Run the installer and choose 'Custom installation'. Check the box for 'Perform a clean installation' and click Next. This ensures all old driver remnants are removed.
5. 5 After installation, restart your PC again. If the crashes continue, the issue might be an unstable overclock. Use MSI Afterburner or your GPU's overclocking software to reset your GPU clocks to default (click the reset button or set core clock and memory clock to 0).
6. 6 If the problem persists, run a stress test like FurMark or Unigine Heaven for 30 minutes. If the screen goes black during the test, your GPU may be failing. Consider checking temperatures with HWMonitor — if your GPU exceeds 90°C, improve cooling or clean dust from fans.
