1. 1 First, check your internet connection. Open a web browser and try to visit a website. If it fails, restart your router and modem. This ensures you have a stable connection.
2. 2 Press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. This opens a list of your hardware. We need to check your network adapter.
3. 3 Expand 'Network adapters'. Right-click your Wi-Fi or Ethernet adapter and select 'Update driver'. Choose 'Search automatically for drivers'. This ensures you have the latest network drivers, which can fix connectivity issues.
4. 4 If Windows doesn't find a new driver, go to your PC manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for your network adapter. Install it and restart your PC.
5. 5 Press Windows key + R, type 'firewall.cpl', and press Enter. Click 'Allow an app or feature through Windows Defender Firewall'. Ensure 'Windows Update' is allowed for both Private and Public networks. If not, click 'Change settings', check the boxes, and click OK.
6. 6 If you have a third-party firewall, temporarily disable it to test. If Windows Update works with it disabled, add Windows Update to its allowed list.
