1. 1 Check the physical connection: if you're using Ethernet, ensure the cable is securely plugged into both the PC and the router. If using Wi-Fi, make sure Wi-Fi is turned on (usually a key on the keyboard or a switch on the laptop).
2. 2 Press Windows key + I to open Settings, then go to Network & Internet. Look at the status: if it says 'Not connected', click on 'Show available networks' and select your Wi-Fi network. Enter the password if prompted.
3. 3 If Wi-Fi is on but not connecting, run the network troubleshooter: in Settings, go to System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters, and click 'Run' next to 'Network Adapter'. This will automatically detect and fix common issues.
4. 4 Open Device Manager: press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Expand 'Network adapters'. If your adapter has a down arrow, right-click it and select 'Enable'. If it has a yellow exclamation mark, the driver may be faulty. Right-click and select 'Update driver'.
5. 5 If the adapter is disabled in BIOS, you may need to restart and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Del during boot) and enable the network adapter.
