1. 1 Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Go to 'System' > 'About'. Under 'Device specifications', click 'Rename this PC'. This shows your current computer name. Write it down.
2. 2 Check other computers on your network to see if any have the same name. You can do this by opening Command Prompt and typing 'net view' to list all devices. If you see a duplicate, you need to change one of them.
3. 3 To change your computer name, click 'Rename' and enter a new unique name (e.g., 'DESKTOP-1234'). Click 'Next' and then 'Restart now' to apply the change. This resolves the conflict.
4. 4 If you cannot rename your PC (e.g., due to domain policies), you can also change the NetBIOS name via the registry. Press Windows key + R, type 'regedit', and press Enter. Navigate to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters'. Find the 'NV Hostname' value and double-click it. Change it to a unique name and restart. This is an advanced step, so be careful.
5. 5 After renaming, restart your PC and try the operation that caused the error. It should now work without conflicts.
