1. 1 First, verify network connectivity. Press Windows key + R, type 'cmd', and press Enter. In the Command Prompt, type 'ping your_domain_controller_hostname' (replace with actual name) and press Enter. If you get replies, the network is fine; if not, check your network connection.
2. 2 Check DNS settings. Press Windows key + R, type 'ncpa.cpl', and press Enter. Right-click your active network adapter and select 'Properties'. Select 'Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)' and click 'Properties'. Ensure 'Obtain DNS server address automatically' is selected, or manually set the correct DNS server provided by your IT department.
3. 3 Flush DNS cache. In the same Command Prompt, type 'ipconfig /flushdns' and press Enter. This clears any corrupted DNS entries that might be causing the issue.
4. 4 Check if the domain controller is accessible. Type 'nltest /dsgetdc:your_domain_name' (replace with your domain) and press Enter. This command queries the domain controller. If it fails, the DC is unreachable.
5. 5 If the DC is unreachable, try to restart the Netlogon service. Press Windows key + R, type 'services.msc', and press Enter. Find 'Netlogon', right-click, and select 'Restart'. This service handles domain authentication.
