1. 1 Press Windows key + R, type 'wf.msc' and press Enter. This opens Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security. We need to check IPsec settings.
2. 2 In the left pane, click 'Connection Security Rules'. Look for any rules that are enabled. If you see rules that are not needed, you can disable them temporarily to test. Right-click a rule and select 'Disable Rule'.
3. 3 If you have a VPN, check its settings. Open Settings → Network & Internet → VPN. Select your VPN connection and click 'Advanced options'. Ensure the authentication method is set correctly (e.g., 'Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)' or 'Microsoft: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)').
4. 4 Check the IPsec settings in the Local Security Policy. Press Windows key + R, type 'secpol.msc', and go to 'Security Settings' → 'Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security' → 'Connection Security Rules'. Review the rules for any misconfigurations.
5. 5 If you have certificates involved, ensure they are valid and not expired. Open the Certificates console by pressing Windows key + R, typing 'certmgr.msc', and checking the 'Personal' and 'Trusted Root Certification Authorities' stores.
6. 6 Restart the IPsec services. Open Services (services.msc), find 'IKE and AuthIP IPsec Keying Modules', right-click and select 'Restart'. Also restart 'Base Filtering Engine'.
