1. 1 Restart the device that is causing the error. For example, if it's a printer, turn it off and on. If it's a USB device, unplug it and plug it back in. This resets the device and clears any temporary glitches.
2. 2 Check if the device is properly connected. For USB devices, try a different port. For network devices, ensure they are on the same network and reachable.
3. 3 Update the device driver. Press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Find the device, right-click it, and select 'Update driver'. Choose 'Search automatically for drivers'. This ensures the driver is up to date.
4. 4 Restart the associated service. For example, if it's a printer, restart the 'Print Spooler' service. Press Windows key + R, type 'services.msc' and press Enter. Find 'Print Spooler', right-click and select 'Restart'.
5. 5 Run the relevant troubleshooter. Press Windows key + I, go to System → Troubleshoot → Other troubleshooters. Select the troubleshooter for the device type (e.g., Printer, Hardware and Devices) and run it.
