1. 1 First, check the file size. Right-click the file and select Properties. If the file is larger than 4GB and you're trying to copy it to a USB drive or external hard drive, the drive might be formatted with FAT32, which has a 4GB file size limit. To fix this, you can reformat the drive to NTFS or exFAT. Press Win+X and select 'Disk Management'. Right-click the drive and select 'Format'. Choose NTFS or exFAT and click OK. Note: This will erase all data on the drive, so back up first.
2. 2 If you cannot reformat the drive, you can split the file into smaller parts using a compression tool. Download and install 7-Zip. Right-click the file, select '7-Zip' → 'Add to archive'. In the 'Split to volumes, bytes' field, enter a size smaller than 4GB (e.g., 3000M). This creates multiple smaller files that you can copy and then recombine on the target system.
3. 3 If the error occurs when opening a file in a specific application (like a database or video editor), the application might have a file size limit. Check the application's documentation for maximum supported file size. If possible, split the file or use a different application that supports larger files.

5. 5 If the error occurs during a download, the download might be incomplete or the server might have a file size limit. Try downloading the file again, or use a download manager that supports resuming.
