1. 1 If the drive is a USB or SD card, check for a physical write-protect switch on the side. Slide it to the unlocked position. This is a common cause of the error, and it's a simple fix.
2. 2 Press Windows key + S, type 'BitLocker', and select 'Manage BitLocker'. Look for the locked drive and click 'Unlock'. Enter the password or recovery key. If you don't have it, you may need to reset the drive, but that will erase data. This step is essential for encrypted drives.
3. 3 Press Windows key + X and select 'Disk Management'. Right-click the locked drive and select 'Change Drive Letter and Paths'. Assign a new drive letter. Sometimes the drive letter conflict can cause the lock. This refreshes the drive's access.
4. 4 Press Windows key + R, type 'diskpart' and press Enter. In the DiskPart window, type 'list volume' to see all volumes.
