2. 2 If you want to map a drive to a subfolder, you have two options: either use the root of the drive and then navigate to the subfolder, or use a symbolic link. For example, instead of 'subst X: C:\Users\Name\Documents', you can create a symbolic link: 'mklink /D C:\DocumentsLink C:\Users\Name\Documents'.
3. 3 To use SUBST with a root directory, type 'subst X: C:\' (or the appropriate drive letter). This will map the entire C: drive to X:, which may not be what you want, so be careful.
4. 4 If you need to map a subfolder, consider using the 'net use' command with a local share, or use PowerShell's New-PSDrive with -Root parameter that accepts any path.
