1. 1 Press Windows key + R, type 'inetcpl.cpl' and press Enter. This opens Internet Properties. Go to the 'Security' tab.
2. 2 Select 'Internet' zone and click 'Custom level...'. Scroll down to 'ActiveX controls and plug-ins' and ensure 'Enable' is selected for 'Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins'. Also check 'Scripting' and ensure 'Active scripting' is set to 'Enable'. Click OK.
3. 3 Go to the 'Advanced' tab and scroll down to 'Security'. Check 'Allow software to run or install even if the signature is invalid' and 'Allow active content from CDs to run on My Computer'. Click OK.
4. 4 If the error persists, it might be due to Group Policy. Press Windows key + R, type 'gpedit.msc' and press Enter. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Internet Explorer > Internet Control Panel > Security Page. Look for policies like 'Site to Zone Assignment List' or 'Security Zones: Use only machine settings'. If any are enabled, set them to 'Not Configured'.
5. 5 If you are on Windows Home, edit the registry. Press Windows key + R, type 'regedit' and press Enter. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones. There are keys 0-4 representing zones. Look for a DWORD named '1200' (which controls ActiveX controls). Set it to 0. Also look for '1400' (Active scripting) and set it to 0.
6. 6 Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer. Try running the program again.
