1. 1 Press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Expand 'Display adapters'. Right-click your graphics card and select 'Update driver'. Choose 'Search automatically for drivers'. If no update is found, visit the GPU manufacturer's website (NVIDIA, AMD, Intel) and download the latest driver. Outdated graphics drivers are the #1 cause of this BSOD.
2. 2 Press Windows key + R, type 'sfc /scannow' and press Enter. This scans and repairs corrupted system files. Wait for it to complete. If it finds issues, it will fix them. This addresses system file corruption that can cause service exceptions.
3. 3 Open Command Prompt as administrator (Win+X → Terminal (Admin)). Type 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' and press Enter. This repairs the Windows image. It may take up to 30 minutes. This is a deeper repair that ensures the system files are healthy.
4. 4 If the error persists, boot into Safe Mode (hold Shift while clicking Restart). In Safe Mode, use Device Manager to uninstall the graphics driver completely (right-click → Uninstall device, check 'Delete the driver software for this device'). Then restart and reinstall the latest driver.
5. 5 Check for Windows updates: Press Win+I to open Settings, go to Windows Update, and click 'Check for updates'. Install any pending updates, as they often include driver fixes and kernel patches.
