1. 1 Locate the crash log. For most Unity games, the log is in the game's installation folder or in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\[CompanyName]\[ProductName]\Player.log. Press Windows key + R, type '%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow' and press Enter. Look for a folder with the game's name. Open the Player.log file with Notepad. Look for lines that say 'Exception' or 'Error' — they often indicate the cause.
2. 2 Verify the game files. Open your game launcher (Steam, Epic Games, etc.). For Steam, right-click the game in your library, select 'Properties', go to 'Local Files', and click 'Verify integrity of game files'. This checks for corrupted or missing files and replaces them. For other launchers, look for a similar option.
3. 3 Update your graphics drivers. Outdated drivers are a common cause of Unity crashes. Follow the same steps as in the first guide to install the latest driver.
4. 4 Run the game as administrator. Right-click the game's executable (usually in the game's installation folder) and select 'Properties'. Go to the 'Compatibility' tab, check 'Run this program as an administrator', and click OK. This gives the game more permissions and can prevent crashes.
5. 5 If the crash persists, try disabling fullscreen optimizations. Right-click the game's executable, go to 'Properties' → 'Compatibility', and check 'Disable fullscreen optimizations'. This can fix rendering issues.
6. 6 Check if the game has a 'Safe Mode' or 'Low Graphics' option in its launcher. If so, enable it to rule out graphics settings as the cause.
