1. 1 Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Type 'cmd' and press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to open Command Prompt as administrator. Click Yes if prompted. This gives you the necessary permissions to run system repair commands.
2. 2 In the Command Prompt, type 'sfc /scannow' and press Enter. This System File Checker scans all protected system files and replaces corrupted ones. It may take 15-20 minutes. This step addresses any file corruption that might be causing the seek error.
3. 3 After SFC completes, run 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' and press Enter. This repairs the Windows system image itself, which SFC relies on. It can take up to 30 minutes. This ensures that the core system files are healthy.
4. 4 Restart your computer by clicking Start, then Power, then Restart. This applies any fixes and clears temporary memory.
5. 5 If the error persists, check the disk for errors. Open File Explorer, right-click on the drive where the error occurs (usually C:), select Properties, go to the Tools tab, and under Error checking click Check. Follow the prompts to scan and repair the drive. This fixes file system issues that can cause seek errors.
