1. 1 First, check if the file is blocked. Right-click the executable, select Properties, and look for an 'Unblock' checkbox at the bottom of the General tab. If present, check it and click Apply. This removes the 'Mark of the Web' that Windows adds to files downloaded from the internet.
2. 2 If the program is a 16-bit application, it will not run on 64-bit Windows 11. You can try using a virtual machine with a 32-bit Windows version, or use an emulator like DOSBox. Download DOSBox from the official website and install it. Then run your program within DOSBox.
3. 3 If the file is corrupted, re-download it from the original source. Delete the old file and get a fresh copy.
4. 4 Run a virus scan on the file. Right-click the file and select 'Scan with Microsoft Defender' (or your antivirus). If it detects malware, quarantine or delete the file.
