2. 2 If the error occurs in multiple programs, it might be a system-wide memory issue. Press Windows key + X and select 'Windows Terminal (Admin)' or 'Command Prompt (Admin)'. Type 'chkdsk /f' and press Enter. You'll be prompted to schedule a disk check on restart. Type 'Y' and restart. This checks your hard drive for errors that could cause data to be discarded.
