1. 1 Press Windows key + R, type 'dxdiag', and press Enter. Go to the 'Display' tab and check the 'Driver Version'. If it's outdated, proceed to update it.
2. 2 Press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Expand 'Display adapters', right-click your GPU, and select 'Update driver'. Choose 'Search automatically for drivers'. If no update is found, go to your GPU manufacturer's website and download the latest driver. This often fixes the underlying issue.
3. 3 If the error occurs when you change resolution or alt-tab, try running the game in 'Windowed' mode. You can change this in the game's video settings. This prevents the display mode from changing, which can cause the device to need a reset.
