1. 1 Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Type 'eventvwr.msc' and press Enter to open Event Viewer. Navigate to Windows Logs → System. Look for critical errors around the time of the crash. This helps identify the specific driver or component that caused the issue.
2. 2 Run the System File Checker (SFC) to repair corrupted system files. Open Command Prompt as administrator by pressing Windows key + X and selecting 'Terminal (Admin)'. Type 'sfc /scannow' and press Enter. This scans and repairs protected system files, which can resolve underlying corruption.
3. 3 Run the DISM tool to repair the Windows system image. In the same Command Prompt, type 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' and press Enter. This fixes more deep-seated corruption that SFC might miss.
4. 4 Update your drivers, especially storage and chipset drivers. Press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Expand 'Storage controllers' and 'IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers'. Right-click each device and select 'Update driver' → 'Search automatically for drivers'. Outdated or faulty drivers are a common cause of this BSOD.
