Solution Steps
- 1 Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Go to Windows Update → Advanced options → Delivery Optimization. Toggle off 'Allow downloads from other PCs'. This disables peer-to-peer sharing, which can slow down downloads. Microsoft's servers are usually faster.
- 2 In the same Delivery Optimization settings, click 'Advanced options' and set the 'Download bandwidth' limit to 100% (or unlimited). This ensures Windows doesn't throttle download speeds.
- 3 Close the Xbox app completely. Right-click on the Xbox icon in the system tray and select 'Quit'. Then reopen it. Sometimes the app gets stuck and needs a restart.
- 4 Press Windows key + R, type 'services.msc' and press Enter. Find 'Delivery Optimization' in the list, right-click it, and select 'Restart'. This restarts the service that manages downloads.
- 5 If the issue persists, reset the Xbox app: Go to Settings → Apps → Installed apps, find Xbox, click the three dots, and select 'Advanced options'. Scroll down and click 'Reset'. This will clear the app's cache and settings, but you'll need to sign in again.
- 6 Check if your antivirus is interfering. Temporarily disable it and see if download speed improves. If so, add the Xbox app to exceptions.
