1. 1 Press Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. Type 'eventvwr' and press Enter. In the Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs → Application. Look for red error entries that match the time of your crash. The 'Faulting module name' tells you which file caused the crash (e.g., a .dll or .exe). This gives you a clue whether it's a game file, a driver, or a mod.
2. 2 Open your game launcher (Steam, Epic, etc.) and find the option to verify game files. For Steam: right-click the game in your library → Properties → Installed Files → Verify integrity of game files. This checks every file against the official version and re-downloads any that are corrupted. It's like having a mechanic inspect every part of your car and replace any that are worn out.
3. 3 If you use mods, temporarily disable them all. Move the mod folder (usually in the game's directory or in Documents) to your desktop. Try launching the game and reaching the crash point. If it works, one of your mods is the culprit. Re-enable mods one by one until you find the bad one.
