1. 1 Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. Click 'More details' at the bottom if you see a simplified view. Go to the 'Startup' tab and disable any suspicious programs that launch at startup. This prevents malware from re-infecting your system after you clean it.
2. 2 Press Windows key + I to open Settings. Go to 'Privacy & security' → 'Windows Security' → 'Virus & threat protection'. Click 'Scan options' and select 'Full scan'. Click 'Scan now'. This scans every file on your hard drive, not just the usual spots, to find and remove the infection.
3. 3 If the full scan finds nothing, download Windows Defender Offline from Microsoft's website. Run it to create a bootable USB drive, then restart your PC and boot from that drive. This scans your system before Windows starts, catching deeply hidden malware that regular scans miss.
4. 4 After cleaning, open Command Prompt as administrator (press Windows key, type 'cmd', right-click 'Command Prompt', select 'Run as administrator'). Run the command 'sfc /scannow' to repair corrupted system files. Then run 'DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth' to fix the Windows system image. These commands replace damaged files with healthy ones.
5. 5 If the error persists, the infected file might be a false positive. Temporarily disable your antivirus (in Windows Security, turn off 'Real-time protection') and try the operation again. If it works, add the file or folder to the antivirus exclusions list. Re-enable real-time protection immediately after.
