2. 2 Check for memory leaks. Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager. Go to the 'Processes' tab and click 'Memory' to sort by memory usage. Look for any program that's using an unusually large amount of memory (like 2 GB or more) that you didn't expect. If you find one, right-click it and select 'End task'. This frees up the memory it was using. If the program is essential, consider updating it or reinstalling it.
3. 3 Increase the virtual memory (pagefile). Press Windows key + R, type 'sysdm.cpl', and press Enter. Go to the 'Advanced' tab, click 'Settings' under Performance, then go to the 'Advanced' tab again and click 'Change' under Virtual memory. Uncheck 'Automatically manage paging file size for all drives', select your system drive (C:), choose 'Custom size', and set Initial size to 4096 MB and Maximum size to 8192 MB. Click Set, then OK, and restart. This gives Windows more 'overflow' space for memory, reducing the chance of buffer exhaustion.
