1. 1 First, verify the network path. If you're trying to access a shared folder, ensure the path is correct. For example, \\server\share. You can test by pressing Windows key + R, typing the path, and pressing Enter. If it opens, the path is correct.
2. 2 Check if the remote computer is turned on and connected to the network. You can ping it by opening Command Prompt and typing 'ping [computer name]' or 'ping [IP address]'. If you get replies, it's reachable.
3. 3 Ensure you have permission. Right-click the shared folder on the host computer, go to Properties → Sharing → Advanced Sharing, and check the permissions. You may need to add 'Everyone' with read access.
4. 4 If you're using a workgroup, ensure both computers have the same workgroup name. Go to Settings → System → About → Rename this PC, and check the workgroup.
5. 5 Try accessing the resource using the IP address instead of the computer name. For example, \\192.168.1.10\share. This bypasses DNS issues.
