- 1 Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Go to the 'Performance' tab and select 'GPU' on the left. Look at 'Dedicated GPU memory' — this shows your VRAM usage. If it's near 100%, you're running out.
- 2 Close unnecessary background programs. In Task Manager, go to 'Processes', sort by GPU usage, and end any non-essential apps that use significant GPU memory (like browsers with many tabs).
- 3 Lower your in-game graphics settings. Go to the game's video settings and reduce 'Texture Quality' to High or Medium, and turn off 'Ultra' settings. This directly reduces VRAM usage.
- 4 Reduce the game's resolution. Lowering from 1440p to 1080p can significantly cut VRAM usage.
- 5 Increase your system's virtual memory (page file). Press Windows key + R, type 'sysdm.cpl' and press Enter. Go to 'Advanced' tab, under 'Performance' click 'Settings', then 'Advanced', then under 'Virtual memory' click 'Change'. Uncheck 'Automatically manage', select your C: drive, choose 'Custom size', and set Initial size to 4096 MB and Maximum size to 8192 MB. Click 'Set' and 'OK'. This gives the system more memory to fall back on.
- 6 If you have an integrated GPU (like Intel HD Graphics) and a dedicated GPU, make sure the game uses the dedicated GPU. Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics, select the game, and choose 'High Performance'.
