1. 1 Boot into Safe Mode: Restart and press F8 or use Shift + Restart to get to Advanced Startup Options. Choose 'Safe Mode'. If the error doesn't occur in Safe Mode, it's likely a driver or software issue.
2. 2 Run the Windows Memory Diagnostic: Press Windows key + R, type 'mdsched.exe', and press Enter. Choose to restart and check for problems. This will test your RAM for errors, as faulty RAM can cause this issue.
3. 3 Update or roll back drivers: Open Device Manager (Windows key + X → Device Manager). Look for devices with a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click and choose 'Update driver' or 'Properties' → 'Driver' → 'Roll Back Driver' if the issue started after an update.
4. 4 Disable DEP for specific programs (if you suspect a particular app): Press Windows key + R, type 'sysdm.cpl', and press Enter. Go to 'Advanced' tab → 'Settings' under Performance → 'Data Execution Prevention' tab. Select 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only' (this is default). If you want to add an exception, select 'Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select' and add the problematic program. However, this is not recommended for security reasons.
5. 5 Run System File Checker: Open Command Prompt as administrator and type 'sfc /scannow' then press Enter. This repairs corrupted system files that might be causing the issue.
