1. 1 Boot into Safe Mode. Restart your PC and press F8 repeatedly before the Windows logo appears (or hold Shift while clicking Restart). Go to Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart, then press 4 to enable Safe Mode. Safe Mode loads only essential drivers, so if the error doesn't appear, a driver is likely the culprit.
2. 2 Once in Safe Mode, press Windows key + X and select 'Device Manager'. Expand categories and look for devices with a yellow exclamation mark. Right-click on any such device and select 'Update driver'. This can fix driver issues.
3. 3 If you recently installed a new driver, roll it back. In Device Manager, right-click the device, select 'Properties', go to the 'Driver' tab, and click 'Roll Back Driver'. This reverts to the previous driver that worked.
4. 4 Run 'sfc /scannow' in Command Prompt as administrator (Win+R, type 'cmd', press Ctrl+Shift+Enter). This checks for corrupted system files and repairs them.
5. 5 Check for Windows updates. Press Win+I to open Settings, go to Windows Update, and click 'Check for updates'. Install any pending updates, as they often include driver fixes.
6. 6 If the error persists, use System Restore. Press Win+R, type 'rstrui.exe', and press Enter. Choose a restore point before the error started. This undoes recent system changes without affecting your files.
